where to find a fantastic share investment education and learning for the new and beginning value investor

Just this week, I created a new public Google Group titled “Warren Buffett Value Investing“. Click the link to visit and join the group.

This morning it occurred to me that new members joining the group will be at
various different levels of knowledge and experience when it comes to
investing in shares and engaging with the stock market.

So to address this, I want to share with you the best Australian web site I have found for introducing new investors to learn about the share market.   The site is called…

New2Shares.com.au : http://www.new2shares.com.au/
The web site of the Australian Stock Exchange, http://www.ASX.com.au/
features a large amount of free training and tutorial information, much of it produced with the beginning and new investor in mind. It is excellent material and I recommend you work through it if you are serious about your shares and stock market investing education.

The only drawback is the presentation and structure of the material is not specifically geared towards taking the new investor through the initial basics in a clear, well presented easy to follow structure. It is not quite delivered in pre-cut, easy to digest bite sized pieces, which means it can be a bit daunting for the newcomer to engage with.

The New2Shares.com.au site is produced by the publishers of “The Intelligent Investor”, which is to the best of my knowledge, Australia’s most successful value investing focused shares / stocks analysis and recommendations newsletter. It is free to register as a member at New2Shares.com.au and you can also score yourself a trial subscription of “The Intelligent Investor” newsletter, which I highly recommend you do.
Here are the tutorial modules available on New2Shares that you can begin with:

Why Invest
How to Invest
What to Buy
How to Buy It
What Comes Next

Also listen to the audio interview and the 10 question quiz under the Education section:

# Interview with the experts - Getting started in the sharemarket

Intelligent Investor directors Steve Johnson and Greg Hoffman talk about their early experiences, mistakes and the lessons they’ve learned.

# Take the New2Shares quiz

Take our 10-question test and find out how your skills stack up. It’s designed so you can measure your progress and find out where you need to learn more.

Here is the summary from my own quiz results:

“Thank you for taking our quiz.

Your score is 8 / 10. Below you can see the correct answers in green.
Where your answer was incorrect we’ve shown it in red.

Based on your results we have calculated your investment knowledge to be of a High level.

We recommend you read the following books to brush up on your investment knowledge:

* Berkshire Hathaway Letters to Shareholders by Warren Buffett
* Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits by Phil Fisher
* Security Analysis by Benjamin Graham
* The Rediscovered Benjamin Graham by Janet Lowe”

So, not only did I learn two new things I didn’t previously know, I got some free book recommendations, which means I have more homework to do, to bring you further nuggets of value investing wisdom in the near future!

Once everyone (including the old hands) has all reviewed this information, we’ll all have a base set of assumed knowledge from which we can continue our conversation.

The reason the old hands should also go through this information?

My Aikido Sensei, Mr Ken McLean, with over thirty years of martial arts training experience and over twenty three years as an Aikido master teaching students, advocates for his Hakamas (dedicated higher ranked students) to attend the ten sessions of beginners classes from time to time, to practice what is called “beginner’s mind”, even if it is the ten thousandth time they are repeating something.

When a person believes they have really made it and achieved true mastery, that is when they become arrogant and prone to deadly mistakes.

I can see many similarities between value investing and studying a martial art, so no doubt there will be further analogies like this from me.
Wishing you a happy, prosperous day!

happy regards,

Bradley C Hughes

Greetings,
I am Thomas Garcia , this is my first
post. I wasn’t sure where to make this post, and I apologize in advance, if I posted in the wrong place,
please advise.
Not so long ago, I discovered information about
investment programs, that are rarely published on
official investment resources. The earnings, which people could
receive by joining in such private clubs, appeared
shockingly high at
first, but as I studied more feedbacks about them, I started to
invest. These days, I consider
myself as no less, but the successful
entrepreneur. To
share my findings, I
now created the blog, which
outlines detailed information
about investment
programs. You can see my current picks, click here.
I would be happy to receive
user’s feedbacks.
